Liposuction

Conveniently located to serve New York City, Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, Long Island

When it feels like you’ve tried everything to get rid of stubborn fat, it’s time to consider liposuction in New York. This fat-reduction procedure is ideal for people who have tried consistent dieting and exercise, but are unable to achieve their aesthetic goals.

The Benefits of Liposuction

Liposuction is quite versatile and is able to remove excess stubborn fat from the following areas:

  • Back
  • Buttocks
  • Thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Abdomen
  • Knees
  • Hips
  • Chin
  • Neck
  • Chest

While exercise creates gradual generalized fat reduction in many areas of the body, liposuction is a form of immediate targeted fat reduction.

Exercise shrinks fat cells, which means that they can grow again over time. Liposuction, on the other hand, completely removes fat cells from the body. This means that they will not grow back.

Am I a Good Liposuction Candidate?

When excess fat is present in an area, the skin grows to accommodate it. After liposuction, the skin must shrink back down to tightly fit the new contours of the area. Thus, the best candidates for lipo are patients who have a high degree of skin elasticity, which allows the skin to shrink appropriately.

Good candidates do not smoke or are willing to quit at least two weeks before surgery and for two weeks after surgery. Smoking lowers skin health and can lead to complications. Additionally, ideal candidates are in good overall health.

What Is Lipo Like?

Liposuction begins with administration of anesthesia in order to numb the target area. After this numbing has taken effect, a very small incision can be created. A tube called a cannula is inserted into this incision, and then the excess stubborn fat cells are removed through the tube with the help of medical suction.

This is repeated for all trouble areas until the desired contouring has been completed. Because the incisions made are so small, they do not typically need to be closed using sutures. This means that suture removal will not be necessary during follow-up appointments.

The Liposuction Recovery and Healing Process

Once you have returned home after a lipo treatment, you will need to allow your body to rest and heal. It will be very important to follow the directions of Dr. Bradley during your recovery process, since this ensures the best possible results and the lowest chance of complications.

A degree of temporary post-surgical bruising and swelling will be present in the targeted areas. These can be reduced using ice packs, as directed.

During recovery, it is necessary to wear a post-surgical elastic compression garment. These garments allow the skin to better conform to the body’s new contours. They also help to control swelling and bruising.

How Much Does Liposuction Cost?

The price of lipo varies depending on a number of factors. The amount of excess fat removed, the time it takes to perform the procedure, and the size and number of treatment areas all play a role in determining liposuction cost.
